Pack day on Maui is a separate dispatch from move day, and on a mainland-bound or inter-island container shipment it has to be a separate dispatch because the wrap discipline takes the time it takes. The WMP pack crew arrives between 7 and 8 a.m., works through the house room by room, and finishes between 4 and 6 p.m. depending on how many koa pieces, leather sofas, surfboard quivers and ceramic-tile-art panels need custom wood crating before they ride the sea. Devin Kahale runs the pack crew when the household is headed into a Matson container; Pono runs pack day when the household is staying on-island. The wrap on a Maui pack is doubled compared to a mainland pack because the trade-wind humidity at 75 percent year-round saturates a single layer in under twelve hours.
Salt-air pack-out with custom wood-crate work for the koa pieces
Pack-day flats start at $895 for a one-bedroom unit packed for an on-island move, $1,290 for the same unit packed for an inter-island container ride, and $1,690 for a mainland container pack with the doubled wrap layer and the silica-gel discipline. Materials are billed at our cost and rolled into the flat: corrugated cartons, dish-pack barrels, glassine paper, hibiscus-resistant stretch wrap, custom-cut plywood-cushion crates for the marble tops and the Hawaiian art panels, silica-gel sachets by the box and the 2-inch e-track strapping. Kitchen-and-fragiles-only packing is a common Maui request from kupuna who pack their own clothes but want the koa hutch and the ceramic dish set crated by hands that know hurricane-prep box sealing.
Hurricane-prep box sealing on the May-through-November booking window
From May through November we run hurricane-prep sealing on every pack day automatically. That means the carton lid is tape-sealed across all four flaps (not just the center seam), the box is lifted and weighed for the bill of lading, and the inventory sheet records the carton weight in case a tropical-storm sail-day delay puts the container in a holding yard overnight. The pack crew also stages the cartons on raised pallets inside the house overnight, not on the floor, in case a rain band moves through. These are not optional add-ons; they are how a Maui pack runs during the storm-prep window.

What's the Cost?
Two uniformed Akamai-crew W-2 movers plus the 26-ft straight truck post out of the Wakea Avenue gate at $195 an hour; for a studio, junior one-bedroom or a tight in-building lanai-to-lanai swap that slots cleanly into a half-day, Tyler will lock it as a flat figure instead, opening at $595 all-in.
Everything the day calls for is folded into that hourly figure: the two W-2 movers themselves, the 26-ft We Move People truck, quilted blankets, masonite floor runners, two-wheel and four-wheel dollies, ratchet straps, walk-boards, and the trade-wind humidity mats we put down off the porch in any month with salt on the sidewalk. Fuel adders, third-floor stair charges, long-carry charges from the alley to the door — none of those line items show up on a We Move People invoice, period.
