Four Lines on a Slip — Kai Signs the Hawaii Flat Before Lunch

Zero card on file, zero broker hand-off, zero auto-redial week

Your four lines drop onto the Matson cut-off clipboard at the Wakea Avenue container office; from there Nalani matches them against Wednesday and Friday Pasha sailings, Marisol checks the silica-pad and hurricane-prep box stock, and Kai personally inks the binding Hawaii figure before any slot is held in your name — no card kept on file, no broker email loop, no auto-redial Tuesday.

Moving Services on Maui

We do nine things and we do them with our own W-2 crew. The nine services split into three buckets because that is how a Maui relocation actually divides up — the on-island truck work, the off-island container work, and the specialty crating that wraps around both. Tyler quotes every one of them as a binding flat figure with the deposit at $245.

On-island Maui work

Local moves out of Kahului, Wailuku, Kihei, Wailea, Lahaina, Paia, Makawao, Pukalani, Haiku, Hana and the Upcountry — three-mover crew with the 26-ft truck at $195 an hour, two-hour minimum, no drive-time charges between Kahului and the job. Small flat jobs (studio out, in-building condo shuffles, single-room consolidations) start at $595. Whole-property estate work in Wailea, Kapalua and the Upcountry single-track ranch roads gets a custom binding figure after Tyler walks the property. Pono leads the Maui crews.

Off-island container work

Inter-island via Matson and Pasha — Kahului Harbor to Honolulu (Oahu, two-day sail), to Kawaihae (Big Island Kona side, two-day), to Hilo Harbor (Big Island east side, two to three day) and to Nawiliwili (Kauai, three-day). One-bedroom container is $3,490 inclusive of dual-crew labor on both ends. Mainland Pacific via Matson 14-day sea transit — Long Beach Port for Los Angeles and the Inland Empire, Oakland Port for the Bay Area, Tacoma Port for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. One-bedroom mainland container is $5,890 inclusive of West Coast partner-crew unloading and final-mile truck. Marcus Tagaloa runs every harbor load personally.

Specialty crating, packing and storage

Salt-air pack-out with the moisture-wrap and silica-gel discipline on every wood face, custom koa crating for heirloom hutches and rosewood pianos, surfboard quiver crates for off-island snowbird relocations, gun safe and piano work from $485, climate-stable indoor storage off Kuihelani Highway at $145 to $340 per month depending on container size, and labor-only loaders at $125 an hour for the customers who rented their own U-Haul or U-Box and just need the muscle for the lift. Devin Kahale runs the specialty crating; Pono runs the pack-out crews.

Kupuna and snowbird coordination

Patient downsizing crews for Maui kupuna who are consolidating from a five-bedroom Wailuku plantation into a Kihei condo or off-island to family in California or the Pacific Northwest. Seasonal off-island snowbird coordination — outbound container in October-November, return in March-April, with Marisol holding the billing cycle so the family in Portland or Phoenix is not chasing the invoice from across the Pacific.

Once your slip lands on the Wakea Avenue board, Kai Akamai phones the kitchen table back — lanai to lanai, koa cabinet to koa cabinet — and walks the inventory with you out loud.

The binding Hawaii flat is keyed against the Matson and Pasha sailing sheets at the Wakea Avenue counter, initialed by Kai on We Move People letterhead, and back in your inbox before Tyler closes the office for sunset. One desk owns the quote start to finish — no broker lane, no after-hours national queue — and if Saturday comes and you have not booked, nobody on Wakea Avenue dials you a second time. The only follow-up is the one you ask Nalani for.
