Kihei is six miles of oceanfront on the South Maui side and almost all of it is condos. South Kihei Road runs the entire strip from Maalaea Bay down to the Wailea boundary, and we have moved into and out of nearly every condo complex on it — Sugar Beach Resort, Maui Sunset, Mana Kai, Menehune Shores, Kihei Akahi, Kamaole Sands — usually with the elevator booked, the HOA certificate of insurance pre-filed, and a 26-foot truck staged in the loading zone before 7a so the sunset-side parking is not a problem.
The Sugar Beach to Kamaole condo strip and the HOA paperwork that runs it
A Kihei condo move is a paperwork move first, a furniture move second. The freight elevator window has to be reserved seventy-two hours ahead at most properties on the strip, the WMP certificate of insurance has to list the building’s management company as additional insured at $1M, and the load-zone cones go down before 6:45a most days to keep the morning beach-walker traffic from blocking the truck. Nalani handles every piece of this from the WMP office before the date is signed. The hourly rate stays $195 with the three-mover crew and the 26-footer; the deposit is $245.
Sunset-side oceanfront condos and the salt-air discipline
The other Kihei reality is the ocean spray. Anything in a unit within two hundred yards of the water — the Sugar Beach Park stretch especially — comes off the property with a noticeable salt layer on metal hinges, frame screws and electronics. Pono’s crew wraps electronics and wood furniture in moisture-resistant pads before they go in the truck, and if the load is heading into a Matson container for an off-island leg, we add a layer of silica-gel packets to the crated wood pieces. That sea transit is five to fourteen days under marine humidity. The wrap matters.
What's Covered
- Freight-elevator window reservations at Sugar Beach Resort, Maui Sunset, Mana Kai, Menehune Shores and Kamaole Sands filed seventy-two hours ahead through property management
- HOA certificate of insurance pre-filed with the building’s management company listed as additional insured at the $1M federal cargo standard
- South Kihei Road oceanfront loading-zone cone placement before 6:45a to keep the morning beach-walker and Sugar Beach Park traffic clear
- Sunset-side salt-spray pad-wrap on electronics and wood furniture for units within two hundred yards of the water from Sugar Beach down through Kamaole
- Kihei Sugar Beach Park early-morning timing windows since the park lot fills by 7a on weekends and clogs the South Kihei Road loading approaches
- Inter-island container coordination from a Kihei condo into a Matson barge to Honolulu, Hilo, Kona or Lihue, with the moisture wrap done at the Wakea yard
A Kihei Move Booked Out of Wakea Avenue on a Hawaii-Signed We Move People Flat
The We Move People start rate sits at $195 an hour for two uniformed movers and the 26-ft straight truck. Whatever rate is published on this page is the rate Nalani writes into the contract — the only invoice change comes from hours actually worked, not from a rate adjustment on the truck.
Days ahead of the truck pulling into Kihei, Pono has the curb cut walked, the freight-elevator window booked at the Kihei mill loft, the storm-window timing noted, the salt-line floor matting staged, and the center-stair turn-in measured.
